The Labour Day Classic lived up to its billing as the Saskatchewan Roughriders pulled out a 32-26 overtime victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Regina. A sellout crowd of 34,352 — the largest ever for a CFL game at Mosaic Stadium — watched a contest that had a little bit of everything.

The Blue Bombers forced overtime on the final play of the fourth quarter when quarterback Zach Collaros hit Dorian Singer for a five-yard touchdown. In overtime, the Riders scored first on a one-yard run by quarterback Tommy Stevens — his third touchdown of the game and 15th rushing touchdown of the season — but the ensuing two-point conversion attempt failed.

Saskatchewan sealed the win by stopping Winnipeg on a third-and-six attempt from the Saskatchewan 31-yard line. Quarterback Trevor Harris finished 23-of-33 for 362 yards and a touchdown. The victory lifted the Riders to 8-4, second in the West Division, while the Blue Bombers slipped to 6-6.

2. NBC Says Broadcast Isn't 'Official Arbiter' of Game Clock After Michigan Hail Mary

NBC released a statement Sunday through studio host John Fanta explaining its role in why an extra second was added to the game clock in Michigan's controversial win. In the 13-12 victory over Western Michigan, quarterback Bryce Underwood threw a 47-yard touchdown to JJ Buchanan as time expired — after officials ruled one second remained following review.

Fanta said during Sunday's Washington-Washington State broadcast that the network's clock is not the official timekeeper, and that the official time of the game is kept by the Big Ten, with cameras not serving as the official arbiter of timekeeping. The Big Ten confirmed the broadcast clock and the official replay-center clock were out of sync, and released raw video of the decision-making process.

NBC rules analyst Terry McAuley also pointed out that both clocks being out of sync was the only explanation for officials adding time to the game.

3. Shohei Ohtani Not Likely to Pitch Again in 2026

It has been over two months since Shohei Ohtani last threw a pitch, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts downplayed the idea that Ohtani would return to the mound before 2026 ends. Ohtani hasn't thrown since an August 28 bullpen session that was cut short due to right-knee discomfort and a sore right biceps.

Roberts said Ohtani could return to designated-hitter duty as soon as Monday after feeling well following a Saturday batting-practice session. Ohtani's two-way status complicates matters, since he would have to be placed on the 15-day injured list for pitchers rather than the 10-day IL for position players. Notably, Ohtani has hit just .200/.303/.400 with four home runs over his last 109 plate appearances.

Court moisture and slipping, just minutes in, caused Nebraska volleyball's match against Missouri at Wrigley Field to be suspended. With Wrigley Field's schedule making a resumption impossible, the 43,067 fans in attendance saw just 18 points of play.

Players were pulled off the court three points in after several slipped during rallies, and play resumed after a 17-minute delay. Nebraska led 11-7 when players were pulled off again, and the match never resumed, with the suspension announced at 10:35 p.m. The Big Ten later said the match was suspended due to weather conditions affecting the court surface.

Kimi Antonelli passed Mercedes teammate George Russell with three laps remaining to win the Italian Grand Prix after starting 19th on the grid, becoming the first Italian to win at Monza since Ludovico Scarfiotti in 1966.
