The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-4 at American Family Field on Monday to take a 2-0 lead in the National League Championship Series. William Contreras was the star: he drove in Brice Turang with a first-inning single, tied the game with a home run to centre in the fifth and drove in the winning run with another single in the sixth. Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto lasted just 2.2 innings, allowing three runs on 75 pitches.
Milwaukee's bullpen worked longer than its starter for a second straight day, as Dustin May, JoJo Romero, Abner Uribe and Aaron Ashby combined for five perfect innings. In the third, Jake Bauers battled through a 12-pitch at-bat to draw a bases-loading walk before Christian Yelich followed with a two-run single. The two-time defending champion Dodgers must now win four of the next five games to return to the World Series, while the Brewers are two wins from their first trip since 1982. Game 3 is Wednesday in Los Angeles, with Robert Gasser set to face Blake Snell.

2. Guardians Steal ALCS Opener, Beat Rays 7-3

The Cleveland Guardians beat the Tampa Bay Rays 7-3 at Tropicana Field to take Game 1 of the American League Championship Series. Tampa Bay opened a 2-0 lead in the first on RBI singles by Junior Caminero and Jonny DeLuca, but starter Foster Griffin limited the damage by striking out Taylor Walls with the bases loaded.
Cleveland then took control: Chase DeLauter hit a leadoff homer in the sixth, Patrick Bailey tied it with a leadoff shot in the seventh, Nathaniel Lowe delivered a two-run single in the eighth, and Jose Ramirez added an RBI single and Jo Adell a two-run double in the ninth. Cedric Mullins' solo homer in the eighth off Edmonton-born Erik Sabrowski pulled the Rays within one, but Cade Smith, an all-star closer from Abbotsford, B.C., closed it out on six pitches. Game 2 is Tuesday, with Parker Messick facing Freddy Peralta.

3. Allen, Bills Outlast Rams 37-34 in Overtime

Josh Allen accounted for 331 total yards and two touchdowns, and Tyler Bass made a 45-yard field goal with 1:55 left in overtime as the Buffalo Bills beat the Los Angeles Rams 37-34 on Monday night. Moments earlier, Greg Rousseau blocked the Rams' field-goal attempt, Harrison Mevis' second miss of the night. Allen passed for 210 yards and rushed for 121, seizing a second chance after James Cook fumbled early in overtime to win the first overtime game of his career.
Cook scored his second touchdown with 1:39 left in regulation, but the Rams forced overtime when Kyren Williams scored on a 1-yard run with four seconds left, after Aaron Donald recovered Cook's fumble. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 383 yards and three touchdowns, and Puka Nacua had a career-high 17 catches for 138 yards and a score. Coach Sean McVay was furious with his kicking game: It cost us the game tonight.

4. Senators Roll On With 4-1 Road Win Over Devils
Source: Sportsnet.ca
The Ottawa Senators beat the New Jersey Devils 4-1 on Monday night in Newark to keep their hot start going. Tim Stutzle had a goal and an assist, Shane Pinto and Stephen Halliday added goals, and Linus Ullmark stopped 29 of 30 shots, beaten only by Arseny Gritsyuk with five minutes left. After a tumultuous summer that included trading captain Brady Tkachuk to Florida, Ottawa has won five of its first six games despite missing several key players to injury.
Pinto scored his first goal of the season nine seconds into the second period, and Halliday scored on the power play midway through the frame. The Senators lost defenceman Nikolas Matinpalo in the first period when he was boarded by New Jersey's Anthony Mantha and went head first into the boards; he was ruled out with an upper-body injury. Ottawa is already without Jake Sanderson and Artem Zub on the blue line. The Senators host St. Louis on Tuesday; the Devils visit Detroit.

5. Wild End Golden Knights' Four-Game Win Streak

The Minnesota Wild scored three first-period goals en route to a 4-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights at Grand Casino Arena on Monday. Matt Boldy, Maxim Shabanov, Danila Yurov and Joel Eriksson Ek scored, Quinn Hughes had two assists to extend his season-opening point streak to six games, and Jesper Wallstedt made 21 saves as Minnesota improved to 4-1-1.
Vegas got goals from Rasmus Andersson and William Karlsson, and Carter Hart made 24 saves, but the Golden Knights' four-game win streak ended. Wild forward Nico Sturm was taken to hospital after taking a puck up high off a Jared Spurgeon shot with 2:14 left in the first period. Coach John Hynes said the move was precautionary, given that Brock Faber suffered a skull fracture and had surgery after taking a puck to the head in the preseason.

6. Canada Falls 4-3 to Denmark in Women's Soccer Friendly
Source: CBC
Denmark beat Canada 4-3 in an international women's friendly at BMO Field in Toronto on Monday. Olivia Holdt scored twice and added an assist, with Pernille Harder and Janni Thomsen also scoring as Denmark blitzed the hosts with three goals in a nine-minute span in the first half. Evelyne Viens, Olivia Smith and Delaney Pridham scored for Canada in front of an announced crowd of 12,112.
Pridham opened the scoring in the 10th minute with her first goal for the senior national team. The teams drew 1-1 in Montreal on Friday. Head coach Casey Stoney is still seeking her first win against a top-15 opponent since taking over in January 2025. Allysha Chapman came on in the 89th minute for her 100th and final cap. Canada fell to 3-4-1 all-time against Denmark; its next match is against Panama at the CONCACAF W Championship on Nov. 28.

7. Alouettes Rout Roughriders 44-24; Alexander Tops 5,000 Yards
Source: TSN
The Montreal Alouettes beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders 44-24 in the CFL's Thanksgiving Day Classic. Davis Alexander threw five touchdowns and one interception, completing 26 of 33 passes for 403 yards while adding 40 yards rushing. He passed 5,000 yards on the season, joining Anthony Calvillo as the only quarterbacks in franchise history to reach the mark. Jerreth Sterns had eight catches for 124 yards, Charleston Rambo and Tyler Snead each caught two touchdowns, and a sellout crowd of 23,035 watched at Percival Molson Stadium.
The defending Grey Cup champion Roughriders suffered their fourth straight loss to fall to 8-8. Veteran quarterback Trevor Harris also passed 5,000 yards, throwing for two touchdowns, one interception and 243 yards, with Kian Schaffer-Baker catching two touchdowns, but Saskatchewan trailed 38-16 early in the fourth quarter. Montreal improved to 13-3 and went undefeated at home, and will host the East final on Nov. 7.

8. 49ers' Greenlaw Ejected for Head-Butting Opponent
Source: TSN
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw was ejected in Sunday's game at Seattle. After Sam Darnold scrambled and was hit late by Greenlaw out of bounds, several Seahawks defenders confronted him, and Greenlaw responded by head-butting Ernest Jones IV, who was not wearing a helmet and was left bleeding. Greenlaw was ejected; San Francisco went on to win 32-29.
Coach Kyle Shanahan said you are going to get baited big time when you are on their bench, adding that if that is exactly what happened, the team has to be a lot smarter than that. Teammate Fred Warner said he was too far away to help. Greenlaw has been ejected at least two other times in his career and was suspended for one game last season for berating an official.

9. Michael Jordan Jersey Sells for Record $14M US
Source: CBC
A game-worn, autographed Michael Jordan road jersey from the 1998 NBA Finals has been privately sold for $14 million US, an auction house announced Monday, calling it the highest price ever paid for basketball memorabilia. Pennsylvania-based Hunt Auctions announced the private sale and identified the buyer as Miami real estate investor Ron Firman. The red jersey was worn in Game 2 on June 5, 1998, when the Bulls beat the Jazz to even the series; Chicago won in six games for Jordan's sixth and final title.
The $14 million price is the second-biggest known for a game-worn jersey, behind the $24.12 million paid in 2024 for Babe Ruth's called-shot jersey from the 1932 World Series. It is at least the third time a Jordan jersey from that 1998 finals has fetched at least $10 million: a Game 1 jersey sold for about $10.1 million in 2022 and a Game 3 jersey for about $12.3 million last month.

10. Kawhi Leonard Set for Raptors Pre-Season Debut
Source: Sportsnet.ca
For the first time since he lifted the Larry O'Brien Trophy in June 2019, Kawhi Leonard will play a game for the Toronto Raptors. The two-time Finals MVP is expected to make his pre-season debut Tuesday against the New York Knicks after coach Darko Rajakovic told reporters Monday that Leonard will be available. He missed Toronto's first two exhibition games while ramping up after a summer limited by a delayed trade from the Los Angeles Clippers; the deal, which sent Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick and multiple draft picks the other way, was finalized in September.
Rajakovic said Leonard was a full participant in practice Monday and feels great, but would not say how much he will play. The game will mark his first pairing with Raptors star Scottie Barnes. Knicks coach Mike Brown said his team won't play its starters Tuesday, the second night of a back-to-back. Toronto wraps the pre-season Thursday against the Knicks and Friday against Detroit, then opens the regular season Oct. 21 against Chicago.
