Hilroy is a Canadian stationery brand that shows up on school supply lists every year. This is a 12-pack of assorted colours with a fine point — good for labelling, mind maps, and marking what's inside storage bins.

The ink is quick-drying, waterproof, smear-proof and fade-resistant, and it writes on paper, photos, plastic, wood, stone and metal. Low-odour and non-toxic, meeting ASTM D-4236, so it's fine for classrooms. The caps snap shut, which keeps them from drying out.

Works out to under $0.80 a marker. Handy to have around if there are students in the house or you label a lot of bins.
