Best Buy currently has the Garmin Drive 53 5-inch GPS navigator (model 010-02858-00) for $139.99 CAD (regular $199.99, 30% off). Free shipping on orders over $35.

The 5-inch touchscreen runs at 480 x 272 with adjustable brightness, so the route stays readable in direct daylight. The whole unit weighs 69 g and measures 12.6 x 8.5 x 1.7 cm, and the included suction-cup mount sticks to the windshield without eating up console space.
Guidance uses Garmin Real Directions, which tells you to turn after a landmark instead of quoting a distance, and that reads much better in dense traffic. Maps cover Canada and North America, and both lifetime map updates and lifetime traffic are included with no separate subscription. You also get 3D mapping, spoken directions, programmable waypoints, an address book and a mileage log.

On longer drives the map shows food, fuel, rest areas and upcoming cities along your route, and it warns about school zones, speed changes and sharp curves. Restaurants carry Tripadvisor traveller ratings, and the U.S. national parks directory helps you find park entrances, visitor centres and landmarks. Bluetooth handles hands-free calls, and Wi-Fi lets you pull map and firmware updates.
In the box: vehicle suction cup mount, vehicle power cable and USB cable. Battery life is about 1 hour, so it mostly runs off the car adapter.
