VINTAR Travel Vacuum Compression Bags, 16-Piece Set with Cordless Pump — 10 Seconds per Bag, Reclaim 80% of Your Suitcase! $29.99 CAD (32% Off)

On Amazon.ca right now: the VINTAR travel vacuum compression bag set — 16 bags plus a cordless electric pump — at $29.99 CAD (list $43.99, 32% off). Prime members ship free; otherwise free shipping on orders over $35.

Unlike the bags you have to hold a vacuum hose against, this one comes with its own battery-powered pump. The 1500mAh cell handles up to 50 bags per charge and recharges over USB, so a hotel outlet, a laptop or a power bank will do. With 4500Pa of suction and 110L/min airflow, each bag seals in 10 to 15 seconds — no crouching on the floor waiting.

You get 16 bags in four sizes: 4 small (15.8 × 19.7"), 4 medium (15.8 × 23.6"), 4 large (19.7 × 27.6") and 4 jumbo (23.6 × 31.5"). Bulky coats, duvets and pillows compress by roughly 80%, which is the difference between paying for a second suitcase and not. The pump is palm-sized and comes with a pouch, so it tucks into a corner of your luggage.

The bags are thickened PVC plus PE with a dual-zipper and turbo-valve seal that keeps out moisture, dust and odours, and the clear window lets you see what's inside without opening it. The usual caveat with this whole category: bags that sit for a year or two tend to slowly lose their vacuum. Fine for trips and seasonal storage — don't count on them staying rock-hard indefinitely.

A decent cordless pump alone runs $20+, so at $29.99 you're essentially getting the 16 bags thrown in. Handy timing if you're packing for a November trip.
