Amazon.ca currently has the Gateway (by Acer) Chromebook 14 laptop for $249 CAD (list $449.85, 45% off). Free shipping for Prime members; free over $35 otherwise.

It runs Chrome OS: fast boot, automatic updates and built-in virus protection with nothing extra to manage. You get a 14-inch Full HD screen, Intel Celeron N4500, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and 100GB of Google Drive space.

You can edit Word/Excel files in Google Docs, and install from 3M+ Android apps on Google Play. Ideal for browsing, homework, streaming and cloud work — light tasks.

At $249 it is one of the lowest entry points to a genuinely usable laptop, good for students or browser-only users. Not for heavy local software or demanding workloads.
