「Worth Buying」Sonos Sub Mini Wireless Subwoofer — Small Box, Real Low End! $649 CAD

Amazon.ca carries the Sonos Sub Mini wireless subwoofer in black at $649 CAD, the same as list price — Sonos hardware rarely goes on sale, so the question is whether you need it, not when to wait. Free shipping for Prime members; otherwise free over $35.

It fixes the one thing small soundbars and speakers like the One can't do: real low end. Two 6-inch woofers face each other inside a sealed cabinet, and the force-cancelling arrangement keeps the box itself from vibrating, so it's less likely to rattle across a wood floor. A 250W amplifier and processing do the rest — Sonos' claim is that it reaches toward the bass of a larger subwoofer despite the size.

Trueplay tuning needs an iOS device and calibrates bass to where the sub actually sits, which is easy to overlook: a corner placement and an open placement don't sound the same. The cabinet is 23.1 × 23.1 × 30.5 cm — smaller in person than in photos. It pairs wirelessly with Beam, Ray, One and One SL through the Sonos app; plug it in and you're done.

4.6 stars from 1,429 ratings. In an apartment, the Sub Mini makes more sense than the full Sub: less output, less chance of annoying the neighbours.
