Samsung 9100 PRO 1TB PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD — 14,700MB/s, Gen5 Flagship for Nearly Half Price! $249.99 CAD (46% Off)

Amazon.ca has the Samsung 9100 PRO 1TB PCIe 5.0 x4 NVMe internal SSD for $249.99 CAD (list $464.99, 46% off). Free shipping for Prime members; non-Prime orders over $35 CAD ship free.

The 9100 PRO is Samsung's current Gen5 flagship, rated at 14,700MB/s sequential read and 13,300MB/s write — roughly double the previous-gen 990 PRO. For everyday office work that's overkill; the people who actually feel it are cutting 8K footage, running local AI models, filling up on large games, or regularly moving tens of gigabytes at a time, where the drive is usually the bottleneck.

Random performance is just as high, up to 2.2M IOPS read and 2.6M IOPS write, with Microsoft DirectStorage support for faster game loads and quicker inference. Thermals were the focus this generation, with up to 49% better power efficiency, and the M.2 2280 form factor fits desktops and laptop upgrades alike.

One caveat: to hit full Gen5 speeds your motherboard needs a dedicated PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot and a Gen5-capable CPU, otherwise the drive steps down to Gen4 or Gen3 speeds (it's backward-compatible, so it still works — just not at full tilt). Worth checking what your platform supports first.

At $249.99 for 1TB — under half of list — this is one of the lowest prices it's seen since launch. A good moment to pull the trigger if you're expanding a desktop or moving your boot drive to Gen5. If you're only adding bulk storage to an older laptop, a Gen4 drive will give you better value.
