Bravely Default II for Nintendo Switch — Classic Turn-Based RPG! $35.99 CAD (55% Off)

Amazon.ca has Bravely Default II for Nintendo Switch (physical) at $35.99 CAD, down from $79.49 — 55% off. Prime members ship free; otherwise free shipping over $35.

This is Square Enix's turn-based RPG built around two buttons: Default banks BP while you defend, and Brave spends future turns all at once. Deciding whether to overspend your turns, and when, turns even ordinary encounters into small tactical puzzles — that's the hook of the whole series.

The job system is what really sinks its teeth in. Black Mage, Thief, White Mage, Hunter and more can be assigned freely across your four characters, with sub-jobs stacked on top, so speed builds, counter-heavy builds and status-effect grinding are all viable. Every Asterisk holder you beat unlocks another job, which keeps progression feeling immediate.

The story starts when Seth, a young sailor, washes ashore on the continent of Excillant and meets Gloria, a princess whose kingdom was destroyed, along with Elvis and Adelle, two travellers trying to decipher a magical book. The four set out after four crystals. It's a traditional Japanese fantasy arc with a slow-burn opening — the kind of pacing you either settle into or don't.

The physical Switch version plays handheld and sleeps instantly, which suits a couple of battles on the commute, and you can resell it when you're done. A 55% cut isn't common on this series at retail; $35.99 saves you $43.50 off list.
