Brother MFC-J1260W All-in-One Inkjet — Print, Copy, Scan at Half Price, $69.98 CAD

Amazon.ca has the Brother Work Smart MFC-J1260W wireless colour inkjet all-in-one for $69.98 CAD, down from $139.99 — 50% off. Prime members ship free; otherwise orders over $35 CAD ship free.

Print, copy and scan in one box, with a flatbed scanner that handles books and IDs without tearing pages out. The 150-sheet tray means fewer refills than the usual 100-sheet trays. 16 ppm in black and 9 ppm in colour covers homework, forms and the occasional photo.

Wi-Fi connects to your home network, and the Brother Mobile Connect app lets you print from your phone and check ink levels via Page Gauge. It's 39 cm wide and 6.2 kg, so it fits a desk corner or a lower shelf.

Two things to know up front: it's simplex only, no automatic duplex, so double-sided means flipping the paper yourself. And it runs LC501 cartridges — a full set of genuine four-colour ink isn't cheap, so heavy colour printing will cost more in ink than the printer did. That's true of every $70 inkjet. The included cartridges are starter sizes, smaller than retail.

3.9 stars from 200 reviews, 800+ sold last month, ranked #2 in Ink Cartridge Printers. Good fit for a household with light printing that also needs to scan and copy. If you're pushing hundreds of pages a month, look at a laser instead.
