Press the button to grind, release to stop — the longer you hold, the finer the result, so there's almost nothing to learn. A 304 stainless steel blade and a 38,000 rpm motor handle coffee beans, pepper, star anise, flaxseed and coarse salt alike, so you don't need a second machine when you switch between them. The stainless cup is removable for easy filling and pouring, and it's dishwasher safe.

The usual complaint with blade grinders is noise; this one is rated around 60 dB average, a bit quieter than most — handy if you grind early and don't want to wake the house. At 4.0 stars and 154 reviews, it's a solid choice at the entry price. If you want pour-over or single-cup coffee without spending on a $200+ burr grinder, $35.99 gets you a capable machine.
