This one is for anyone with a spare M.2 drive sitting in a drawer. Drop an old 2280 stick into the aluminium shell and it becomes a portable SSD over USB-C. It takes M-Key and B+M Key drives, PCIe 5.0/4.0/3.0, up to 8TB, runs USB 3.2 Gen 2 at 10Gbps with roughly 1020MB/s real-world throughput, and supports UASP and TRIM. Driver-free on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS.

What you pay extra for over a generic enclosure is the toughness: IP67 waterproof and dustproof when the gasket is aligned and the port cover is on (rated for 30 minutes at 1 m), plus 1.2-tonne crush resistance and 1.5 m drop protection. The all-aluminium body with 34 fins and a pre-installed thermal pad cools passively, so there's no fan and no noise — useful if you carry footage around or work in a quiet room.

The bundle is unusually complete for the price: a 50 cm C-to-C cable (most rivals ship 10-30 cm), a carry case, the thermal pad already fitted, a screwdriver, and a 2-year warranty. The TDAS app (iOS 15.6+, Android 11+) backs up photos, videos and contacts straight to the drive with no cloud involved.
