The backlight is the story here. Most LCD TVs use blue LEDs behind a quantum dot layer; the XR70M2 goes with RGB LED, where red, green, and blue light independently — colour isn't filtered into existence, it's produced directly. That means a wider gamut and higher colour accuracy you can actually see on landscapes, animation, and sports broadcasts, not just on a spec sheet.

The 55" 4K panel suits a living room or media room. A 120Hz refresh rate with XR Motion Clarity cuts blur on hockey, action films, and games, and Dolby Vision gives finer control over highlights and shadows.

Audio comes from Acoustic Multi-Audio, with positioning tweeters that line dialogue and effects up with where they happen on screen instead of smearing everything out of the centre. Dolby Atmos and 3D Surround Upscaling create enveloping sound without a soundbar, and quick settings give you direct soundbar control if you add one.

It runs Google TV with Gemini, so apps and streaming are all there. Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Cast both work, so casting doesn't depend on which phone you carry. Four HDMI inputs — including HDMI 2.1 — cover a PS5, an Xbox, a streaming box, and a soundbar. PS Remote Play streams PlayStation games straight to the TV, a nice bonus if you already own a PS5.

ENERGY STAR certified with an energy saving mode. Rated 4.6 stars across 117 reviews.

$2,999.99 down to $2,499.99 is $500 off, valid through October 23. A 2026 model with true RGB LED backlighting at this price is not a common combination.
