Sony HT-S100F Soundbar — Finally Hear the Dialogue, 90cm Wide! $174.58 CAD (12% Off)

Amazon.ca has the Sony HT-S100F 2.0-channel soundbar for $174.58 CAD (list $198, 12% off). Prime members ship free; otherwise orders over $35 CAD ship free.

Twelve percent isn't a dramatic discount, and I won't pretend otherwise — but this bar has hovered between $190 and $200 for ages, so $174.58 is about as low as it gets outside a Black Friday door-crasher.

The usual complaint about TV speakers is that dialogue gets buried under the soundtrack, and you can't turn it up at night. Voice Enhancement pushes dialogue forward — useful for dramas, news, and video calls. S-Force Pro Front Surround widens the stage beyond the bar itself; it's not real surround, but it's a lot wider than the panel.

It's 2.0 channels at 120W max, with a Bass Reflex enclosure doing the low-end work. In other words: no separate subwoofer. If you want the couch to shake, this isn't it. If you want clear dialogue, a tidy living room, and no extra box or cable, it is.

The bar is 90.2 cm wide and 6.4 cm tall, so it sits under most 55-inch TVs without blocking the screen, and a wall-mount template is included. HDMI ARC means one cable to the TV and volume control from the TV remote; Bluetooth covers phone playback within 10 metres. Sony even includes the optical cable, so nothing extra to buy.

9,000+ reviews at 4.3 stars and #15 in its category — an older model whose quirks have long since been worked out.
