Sub Mini adds low end to a Beam, Ray, One, One SL, or Era 100. Two custom 6-inch woofers face each other, and force-cancelling throws their cabinet vibrations against each other — so you don't get the desk humming or the shelf rattling that plagues ordinary subwoofers. That's a big reason people pick it over a generic sub.

The amplifier and processing punch above its size, with 250W of output and enough headroom that Sonos says it reproduces the deep bass of a larger subwoofer. Trueplay tunes the bass to your room's acoustics based on where you place it (an iOS device is required), so it settles in whether it's next to the TV stand or the couch.
