Top-grain leather, not embossed PU, which is the real dividing line between a leather briefcase and a nylon one — give it a few years and it develops that soft worn sheen. At 1.23 kg and 41 x 13 x 30 cm with 2.6 litres of capacity, it swallows the usual commute load: laptop, charger, bottle, folders. For a full-leather bag that's a light starting weight.

The front compartment has a padded laptop sleeve rated to 15.6", plus three padded accessory pockets for a mouse, charger and dongles so nothing grinds against anything else. One layer out is an organiser panel — tablet pocket, two phone pockets, pen slots. There's a large zip pocket on the back for keys and cards you want to reach without digging. The main compartment has a divider so files stay files.

The smart sleeve on the back slides over a luggage handle, which saves you carrying it through an airport. Carry options are the arched top handles or the detachable, adjustable shoulder strap, and the strap pad is textured to stop it sliding — a small thing that most leather bags get wrong. Seven pockets and three sections overall, so finding something doesn't mean emptying the bag.

4.5 stars across 774 reviews, ranked #1 in Briefcases, and Samsonite backs it with a 3-year warranty.

At $193.98 this sits in the "wear it for ten years" bracket for a leather briefcase. If you need something that goes into a client meeting and then into an overhead bin, this discount is worth taking. If it's just a laptop commute, a soft backpack is lighter and there's no reason to pay for leather.
