「Worth It」Roku Streaming Stick+ 4K — 4x the Wireless Range, One HDMI Port

Amazon.ca currently has the Roku Streaming Stick+ 4K (model 3400R) for $104.60 CAD, down from $109.89 — 5% off. Prime members ship free; otherwise orders over $35 CAD ship free.

Let's be straight about this one: it isn't a current-generation stick and the discount is only 5%, so this isn't a bargain-hunting pick. Its value is in two specific things.

The first is signal. The stick carries a boosted wireless receiver that Roku rates at roughly 4x the range of the standard version. Router in the living room, TV in the bedroom or the basement — the kind of distance where running a cable isn't realistic — and it still streams 4K HDR from the HDMI port. That's the reason a lot of people ditch their TV's built-in apps.

The second is portability. At 23 g it goes in a pocket: hotel rooms, a friend's place, the camper. Sign in once and your accounts follow you. The voice remote controls TV power and volume directly, so you're not juggling two remotes, and the channel store covers 500,000+ movies and episodes including Netflix, YouTube and Prime Video.

Worth knowing: this is a 2017-era product line. It still gets updates, but don't expect the interface speed of the newest models. 4.6 stars from 239 ratings — a "it just works" device rather than a fast one.

If you want an older or secondary TV to stream 4K without fiddling with settings, this is the low-effort option. If you're waiting for a deep discount or the latest generation, keep waiting — it has never been heavily discounted.
