The Tampa Bay Rays beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 in 12 innings at Tropicana Field on Tuesday, walking off to stay alive in the World Series and cut the deficit to 3-1. Half of the crowd of 40,514 erupted when the winning run crossed.

Rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt had put Milwaukee three outs from its first championship with a 396-foot go-ahead homer in the top of the 12th. Tampa Bay answered in the bottom half: Junior Caminero ran hard to force a throwing error, Canadian catcher Liam Hicks singled, Jonny DeLuca tied it up the middle and pinch-hitter Ben Williamson chopped the winner into right.

The Rays are only the fifth of 26 teams to fall behind 3-0 in a World Series and avoid a sweep. The teams used 15 pitchers and 367 pitches over four hours and 20 minutes. Jacob Misiorowski starts Game 5 for Milwaukee; Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash said his plans were not yet decided.

2. Arsenal dumped from League Cup by fourth-tier Fleetwood on penalties

Premier League champion Arsenal was knocked out of the League Cup last 16 by fourth-tier Fleetwood Town 5-3 on penalties Tuesday, one of the biggest upsets in the competition's 66-year history. The match was played at the 5,300-capacity Highbury Stadium, the small ground that shares its name with Arsenal's old home.

The game finished 1-1. Aaron Loupalo-Bi, on loan from Fulham, scored in the 21st minute, Martin Odegaard came on at halftime and Viktor Gyokeres equalized in the 50th. Arsenal's 16-year-old prospect Max Dowman was sent off in the 85th minute for kicking out at an opponent.

Fleetwood converted all five penalties, with keeper Jay Lynch saving Bruno Guimaraes' attempt and Conor Haughey stroking home the clincher. Fleetwood sits 18th in League Two, 84 places below Arsenal, and had never reached this stage before. Manager Matt Lawlor called it the biggest night in the club's history.

3. Anthony Edwards to have knee surgery, expected to miss about two months

Source: Hoops Rumors

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and is expected to miss about two months, with the procedure scheduled for Thursday. ESPN's Shams Charania reported the timeline, with the team hoping for a return around December.

Edwards was averaging 33.3 points per game, including 47 in Monday's overtime loss to Cleveland, but The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski reported he lacked his usual burst and occasionally walked with a limp, and was only cleared to face the Cavs after pregame warmups.

He joins a long opening-week injury list that includes Jalen Williams, Paolo Banchero, Kawhi Leonard, Jaren Jackson Jr., Cason Wallace and Jalen Suggs. With Edwards out, new backcourt partner LaMelo Ball will have to carry more of the scoring load.

4. Malik Beasley to plead guilty on Dec. 9 in NBA gambling case

Source: Fox News

Former NBA player Malik Beasley will plead guilty on Dec. 9 to charges tied to illegal sports gambling, his attorney told multiple outlets. He is accused of altering his play in games during 2024 to enrich bettors and ease his own debts.

Beasley, 29, pleaded not guilty in New York federal court in July. He was charged alongside agent Paolo Zamorano and four others with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, sports bribery, honest services wire fraud conspiracy and conspiracy to commit money laundering. More than three dozen people have been arrested in the sweeping federal probe.

Prosecutors allege Beasley underperformed or overperformed bookmakers' expectations in at least four games while with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024 in exchange for bribes, with debts to former teammate Ed Davis reduced or erased. He has been out of the NBA since playing for the Detroit Pistons in 2024-25.

5. Mbappe apologizes for 'ill-judged' Mao joke as two Chinese brands cut ties

Source: Euronews.com

Kylian Mbappe apologized Tuesday in French, Chinese and English for an "ill-judged" joke involving Mao Zedong, after a video spread online in China and triggered a backlash that cost him several sponsorship deals.

"My comment was ill-judged, and I now understand that it hurt many people in China and in Chinese communities around the world," he said. "I apologize to everyone my words have upset." Energy-drink maker Dongpeng and dairy group Mengniu both ended their partnerships with the Real Madrid forward immediately, with Dongpeng citing zero tolerance for anything that offends national feelings.

The 27-year-old France captain reportedly made the remark on the French talk show The Bridge when asked about memes calling him a "dictator"; the programme then showed an image superimposing his face on a figure resembling Mao. Mbappe had been hugely popular in China, where fans call him "Guigui".

6. Jets fall 5-1 to Panthers for sixth straight loss

Source: Sportsnet.ca

The Winnipeg Jets lost 5-1 to the Florida Panthers at Canada Life Centre on Tuesday for their sixth straight defeat, dropping to 4-5-3 and below .500 for the first time this season. After a 4-1-1 start they are 0-4-2 in their last six.

"We really beat ourselves in this one," coach Scott Arniel said. "Last goal we've got four players on the ice. That was more mental for me." Captain Adam Lowry added: "We're frustrated. We expect more out of ourselves. We're not delivering the results."

Winnipeg has scored 28 goals in 12 games, an average of 2.33 that ranks third-lowest in the league, with 17 of them coming from the Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor and Cole Perfetti line. The Jets have allowed the first goal in eight of their last 10 games and trailed 3-0 by 10:18 of the first period on Tuesday. They sit seventh in the Central Division, two points behind Nashville for the final wild-card spot.

7. Lekkerimaki's late double helps Canucks end skid with 6-5 OT win

The Vancouver Canucks ended a 10-game losing streak with a 6-5 overtime win over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday. Filip Hronek scored the overtime winner and Jonathan Lekkerimaki tied it with two late goals with the net empty.

Anaheim scored three times in the second period to lead 4-1. Brock Boeser and Jamie Oleksiak cut the deficit early in the third before Lekkerimaki struck twice. It was the sixth time in franchise history the Canucks erased a three-goal, third-period deficit.

Lekkerimaki, the 15th overall pick in 2022, has six goals and 12 points in 14 games this season. "He's elite in terms of his ability to get his shot off and pick corners," coach Manny Malhotra said. The win came two days after a loss to Quinn Hughes and the Minnesota Wild.

8. Seahawks acquire All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson from Colts

Source: TSN

The Seattle Seahawks acquired three-time All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick. The Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles had shown varying levels of interest.

Nelson, 30, has made the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight seasons since the Colts drafted him sixth overall out of Notre Dame in 2018, earning three first-team All-Pro nods from 2018 to 2020. He bolsters a Seattle line that has struggled to protect Sam Darnold and open rushing lanes.

Nelson has played only left guard, where 2025 first-round pick Grey Zabel starts. Seattle waived 2024 third-rounder Christian Haynes to make room. Nelson is in the final year of his deal with a $16 million base salary in 2026, and the Colts are expected to reboot after firing general manager Chris Ballard last week.

9. Fernandez wins opening match at Japan Open

Source: Sportsnet.ca

Canada's Leylah Fernandez beat Japan's Himeno Sakatsume 6-4, 6-2 on Tuesday to reach the second round of the Japan Open. The 24-year-old from Laval, Que., ranked 23rd, needed just over 90 minutes against the world No. 114.

Fernandez converted three of nine break-point chances. She is coming off a runner-up finish at the Ningbo Open last weekend and won the Singapore Open title last month. Next up is fifth seed Elise Mertens of Belgium, whom she beat in three sets in Ningbo last week.

Fernandez withdrew from the doubles draw because of a left-arm issue. She and Cristina Bucsa of Spain were scheduled to face top seeds Gabriela Dabrowski of Ottawa and Luisa Stefani of Brazil, who advanced by walkover.

10. Kelly extension changes the CFL quarterback market

Source: TSN

The Toronto Argonauts announced Tuesday that quarterback Chad Kelly has signed a five-year contract extension believed to be worth more than $1 million per season, blowing up the top of the CFL quarterback market. His current salary for 2026 is $624,000.

The previous high was B.C.'s Nathan Rourke at $684,000. The deal is driven by revenue from the league's new broadcast contracts: the CFL currently receives about $50 million a season, a figure set to rise to roughly $83 million next season.

The pressure will spread. Hamilton's Bo Levi Mitchell signed a two-year extension last week, while Rourke, Calgary's Vernon Adams and Montreal's Davis Alexander all signed long-term deals before the new broadcast agreement was announced, running through at least 2028 at well below the new market rate.
