ASUS Vivobook 16 Laptop — Ryzen AI 7 445 & 16" 16:10 Display, $650 Off! $999 CAD (39% Off)

Best Buy currently has the ASUS Vivobook 16 laptop in Quiet Blue at $999 CAD, down from $1,649.99 — 39% off, a $650 drop. Orders over $35 ship free.

The AMD Ryzen AI 7 445 is a 6-core, 12-thread chip running at 2.0 GHz base and up to 4.6 GHz boost with 14 MB cache, paired with an XDNA NPU rated up to 50 TOPS — the threshold spec for this generation of AI PCs, so lightweight local AI work doesn't have to go through the cloud. Memory is 16 GB DDR5 soldered on board (not user-upgradeable), storage is a 512 GB SSD, graphics are Radeon integrated, and Windows 11 Home comes preloaded.

The display is a 16-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) IPS anti-glare panel in a 16:10 aspect ratio with an 89% screen-to-body ratio. The taller 16:10 shape gives you extra vertical room compared with 16:9, which shows up as more lines of text and more rows in a spreadsheet. Refresh rate is 60 Hz, so it's built for work rather than gaming.

Ports are generous: two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C (with display output and power delivery), one HDMI 2.1 and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack. Wireless is Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) dual-band plus Bluetooth 5.4. The battery is a 70 Whr four-cell unit, and the chassis measures 35.70 × 25.06 cm at 1.99 cm thick.

The webcam is an FHD IR camera that supports Windows Hello face login and includes a physical privacy shutter you can slide over the lens. The keyboard is bilingual English/French, and the super-large touchpad supports ASUS Smart Gesture so one-finger gestures handle volume, brightness and scrolling. Speakers are tuned by SonicMaster.

The chassis is MIL-STD 810H tested and weighs 1.88 kg (4.14 lb), which is portable for a 16-inch machine. Windows 11 Home comes preloaded, so there's no separate OS licence to buy, and Quiet Blue is a dark, neutral shade that won't look out of place in an office or a lecture hall.

The spec sheet in short: a 6-core, 12-thread CPU with a 50 TOPS NPU, 16 GB DDR5, a 512 GB SSD, a 16-inch WUXGA anti-glare display, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, a 70 Whr battery and a 1.88 kg chassis. One note: this listing is sold on Best Buy by ASUS Canada as a marketplace seller. At $999 against a $1,649.99 list price, the $650 saved is roughly the budget for an entry-level laptop on its own.
