It's 897 pieces and LEGO recommends 10+, which is fair: the differential and the V12 piston linkage both require understanding how the gears mesh, and younger kids tend to stall halfway through.

More of it moves than you'd expect. The butterfly doors swing up, the hood and engine cover open onto the V12, the pistons move as the wheels turn, and the rear axle has a working differential. Finished, it's 29 cm long and 8 cm high in Ferrari racing red — on a shelf next to a monitor it looks considerably more serious than the average small Technic car.

4.7 stars from 1,073 reviews and ranked 31st in toy building sets. Most buyers pick it up as a birthday gift, and the recurring note is that there's play in the build as well as after it — which is why it doesn't end up in the toy bin by day three. The LEGO Builder app lets kids rotate the instructions in 3D, which keeps them from getting stuck.
