Anyone with a cat or dog knows the routine: the puddle dries, the smell doesn't, and ordinary cleaner just covers it with fragrance. This is an enzyme formula — the enzymes break down the organic residue in urine and vomit, and keep working for a while after the machine is off. It's 2X concentrated, and one 64 oz (1.89 L) bottle covers several cleaning sessions.

It's made for Hoover carpet cleaners and works on carpets, area rugs, stairs and upholstery. No phosphates, phthalates or parabens, so it's fine around kids and pets when used as directed, and Stainguard helps resist future stains.

One practical note: don't over-pour. Too much produces foam that's hard to extract, and it actually cleans better at the machine's recommended dose. 4.6 stars across 5,400-plus reviews, and the line that shows up most often is that it killed the cat pee smell completely.
