Kobo Libra Colour eReader — 7" Colour E Ink, Waterproof & Stylus-Ready! $400.14 CAD (20% Off)

Amazon.ca currently has the Kobo Libra Colour eReader for $400.14 CAD (list price $500.91 CAD, 20% off). Prime members ship free; non-Prime orders over $35 CAD ship free.

This is Kobo's first 7-inch reader with a Kaleido 3 colour E Ink display, so book covers, comics, graphic novels and illustrated titles finally show up in colour. There's no glare in sunlight and no notifications — just you and your books.

The screen rotates for left- or right-handed use and there are physical page-turn buttons, which beat tapping a touchscreen one-handed. It's rated IPX8 waterproof — good for up to 60 minutes in 2 metres of water — so bathtub and poolside reading are fine. 32GB holds roughly 24,000 eBooks or 150 Kobo audiobooks. The body uses recycled and ocean-bound plastic and doesn't feel cheap.

Handwriting and colour markup need the Kobo Stylus 2, sold separately. Kobo Plus comes with a 30-day trial, and built-in OverDrive lets you borrow eBooks from your local library.

At just over $400 it's near the low end for a colour e-reader — a full $100 off list price.
