The biggest upgrade this generation is noise cancellation — Apple rates it at removing up to 2x more unwanted noise than AirPods Pro 2, which you can hear on a subway or in an open office. A new acoustic architecture brings transformed bass and clearer vocals and instruments.

Heart rate sensing is the standout new feature: built-in sensors track heart rate and calories burned across 50 workout types, and with iPhone you also get the Move ring, step count and the new Workout Buddy. Live Translation, powered by Apple Intelligence, lets you communicate across language barriers on the spot.

On battery, you get up to 8 hours of listening with ANC on a single charge, with a USB-C charging case. The new ear tips now come in five sizes for a more secure fit, and next-generation Adaptive EQ tailors the sound to your ear geometry. Active Hearing Protection helps limit excessive environmental noise.

If you are still on an older AirPods Pro, the combination of better ANC, heart rate sensing and Live Translation is a real reason to upgrade. The $329 list price rarely moves, so $289.99 is a relatively uncommon level since launch.
