This is Whirlpool's own filter line, and it's the only filter officially approved for Maytag, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, and Amana refrigerators that take Filter A. It's NSF tested and certified to reduce up to 74 contaminants, so the water and ice come out tasting clean.

Installation is tool-free — the rotating knob lets you twist the old filter out and the new one in. Generic third-party filters might be cheaper, but they're not tested against your specific fridge, and a bad fit can leak or even void your warranty.

Fridge filters are typically swapped every six months, so picking up one or two on sale is a sensible move.
