LEGO Super Mario: Mario Kart 72043 — Interactive Mario Included, Drift and Shell Launcher, $42.72 CAD (34% Off)

Amazon.ca has LEGO Super Mario: Mario Kart — Interactive LEGO Mario & Standard Kart (72043) for $42.72 CAD against a $64.99 list price, 34% off. Free shipping for Prime members; orders over $35 ship free otherwise.

278 pieces, ages 7 and up, and the interactive LEGO Mario figure is included — worth stating up front, since plenty of people assume a starter set is required. Drop him into the kart and he triggers Mario Kart sound and light effects; the Item Box pays out digital rewards, and taking down the Bob-omb and Thwomp figures registers too.

The kart does a real drift motion and carries a working shell launcher, the two mechanics that define the game, and both translate to bricks better than you'd expect. The set also includes an Item Box, three connectable track barriers, two traffic cones, a starting area, and a winner's circle — enough for a full course on the floor, or a base to extend with other Mario Kart sets.

If your kid knows the game there's no learning curve; if not, a kart that drifts and fires shells covers an afternoon anyway. 627 reviews at 4.7 stars, ranked 1,430 in Toys & Games and 183 in Building Sets, with 500+ bought in the past month.
