This is not a cartridge, it's the housing the cartridge sits in. You cut into the main line once, plumb it in, and after that a filter change is just unscrewing the sump — no pipe work. The clear body matters more than it sounds: you watch the cartridge turn brown and know it's finished, instead of guessing "it's probably been six months." It takes the industry-standard 4.5" x 10" cartridges, so string-wound sediment, carbon block and carbon rod filters all fit, and you won't be hunting for a proprietary refill later.

It ships with a pressure-release button — bleed the pressure before opening, much safer than forcing it — plus a plastic wrench, a metal bracket and four screws. Flow is 5-15 GPM depending on supply pressure, which covers a typical detached house with three or four bathrooms.

Two things up front. The cartridges are sold separately; the box is housing only. And it's rated to 90 psi max — if your pressure can ever exceed 60 psi, a regulator must go upstream, set to 60 psi or lower, or you're asking for a leak. Lube the O-ring with silicone grease and make sure it's seated in the groove; that's where first-time installs fail. Keep it from freezing in winter too.
