This is the lunch box most North American parents end up buying eventually. Five compartments are sized for a 3-to-7-year-old's appetite, so the main, the fruit, the yogurt and the snack each get their own space instead of a pile of little containers. It holds 2.4 cups, weighs 590 g, and the edges are rubber-coated so a drop out of a backpack doesn't crack it.
Leak-proofing is where the money goes: two latches small hands can open and close, with a silicone seal between every compartment — yogurt and dip travel without bleeding into the next section. No BPA, vinyl, lead or PVC, and it's dishwasher, freezer and microwave safe (leave the lid out of the microwave).

It carries 4.5 stars across 60,000+ reviews, which is about as solid as this category gets. Two real complaints are worth knowing in advance: the silicone seal molds if it sits dirty, so rinse it the same day and dry it open; and right out of the dishwasher the latches are stiffer than usual — let it cool before clipping it shut.
There are plenty of prints; Fairies leans girly, and the same line has dinosaurs and construction themes if your kid would rather pick.
