TCL 55" A400 Pro Designer Series QD-Mini LED TV — Matte Panel, Flush Wall Mount, 144Hz for PS5 — $998 CAD

Amazon.ca has the TCL 55" A400 Pro Designer Series QD-Mini LED TV for $998 CAD (list $1,099.99, 9% off). Prime members ship free; otherwise free shipping on orders over $35.

The discount isn't the story here — 9% is modest. What makes this set interesting is that it does "looks good on the wall" and "specs that hold up" at the same time: a wood-grain bezel, a matte HVA panel, and a flush wall mount included in the box that leaves only a few millimetres of gap.

Picture is QD-Mini LED with Local Dimming Pro and High Brightness Pro, a native 144Hz refresh rate and Game Accelerator 240 — fine for a PS5. Four HDMI ports, two USB, optical audio, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are all onboard, so no dongles. Built-in Onkyo speakers with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, side-firing so they don't get muffled against the wall.

Two things to know before you buy. This is the Fire TV version, not the Google TV version sold in other regions — the dedicated art gallery features aren't here, and Ambient mode is closer to a screensaver. And the decorative picture frame shown in the product images is not included. Plan on two people for the flush install; the mounting rings rotate while you line them up. If you run wireless headphones over optical with the volume at zero, the mute icon stays on screen.

55 inches suits a bedroom or small living room. If you want a TV that looks good switched off, the hardware earns the price. If you're chasing an art TV, check the feature list first.
