Amazon.ca has the Airthings View Plus air quality monitor for $379.99 CAD. Prime members ship free; otherwise orders over $35 CAD ship free.

Seven sensors in one box — radon, PM2.5, CO2, VOCs, humidity, temperature and air pressure — over Wi-Fi, running on six AA batteries for about two years. That last part matters: you can put it in the room you actually want to measure instead of the room with an outlet.

Radon is the part worth reading twice. It's the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers, and Airthings' own figure is that it kills more than six times as many people as home fires and carbon monoxide poisoning combined. You can't smell it or feel it — measuring is the only way to know. This uses a passive diffusion chamber with alpha spectrometry and monitors continuously, so it also tells you whether a mitigation system is still doing its job.

Front display

The eInk screen shows four values at once; everything else lives in the app, which keeps hourly, daily, weekly and monthly trends you can scroll back through — say, VOC levels while you were cooking three months ago. There's an open API, so it talks to Home Assistant.

Two caveats up front: all data goes to Airthings' cloud with no local access, so the device depends on the service staying alive; and the screen refreshes every few minutes, so treat it as a trend instrument, not a live readout.

4.0 stars across roughly 1,900 reviews, with complaints mostly about price and cloud dependency, and praise mostly about finding a PM2.5 problem people didn't know they had. $379.99 is the regular price — monitors like this rarely go on sale.
