Netac ZSlim 1TB Portable SSD — 30g Aluminum, 550MB/s Read! $190.94 CAD (24% Off)

Amazon.ca has the Netac ZSlim 1TB portable SSD at $190.94, down from $249.99 — 24% off. Prime members ship free; otherwise orders over $35 ship free.

Let me be straight about the value: per gigabyte, this is not the cheap option. Plastic-shell 1TB portable SSDs regularly sell for less. What you are paying extra for is the housing and the warranty — a single-piece aluminum body at 100 × 29.4 × 9mm and about 30g, plus a 3-year limited warranty. If you want a drive that disappears into a jacket pocket, shrugs off being crushed in a bag, and does not get hot during a big transfer, that is a fair trade.

It runs USB 3.2 Gen 2 with up to 550MB/s read and 450MB/s write (the listing also quotes 500MB/s read elsewhere — close enough to not matter). For photo and video dumps, project files and 4K editing it is plenty. If you need 1000MB/s+, that is a Thunderbolt drive at a different price point and for a different job.

In the box: a USB-C to A cable and an A-to-C adapter, so Windows, macOS, Linux and Android all plug straight in with no drivers.

Two things you will actually run into. First, if it does not show up, the cable is usually not seated all the way or you are on an unpowered hub — go direct to the port. Second, advertised speeds need a direct high-speed port and large files; hubs, older USB ports, thousands of small files and phones will all drag it down. That is every portable SSD, not just this one, and Netac prints the same caveats in its own notes.

It sits at #6 in External Solid State Drives with 3,261 reviews and 4.2 stars. The complaints cluster around those two points rather than drive failures.

A 1TB that fits in a pocket and is not plastic, for just over $190.
