M205 is the finishing step in Meguiar's professional line. You run it after a medium cut like M105 to clean up the fine scratches, swirls and haze left by 2000-grit and up, and finish to a mirror gloss. The spec sheet lists a fine, 220-grit abrasive with a blend of oils and waxes designed to leave no halo — so you can go straight to wax or a coating afterwards.

Working it is straightforward: white wool or a fine-cut foam pad, around 1500 rpm, small amounts, two or three passes per panel. It's drier than the old #83 it replaced, so it doesn't sling as much and stays on the pad longer — which is why a jug this size lasts.

One unusual but genuinely useful application: disc repair. People run M205 in machines like the JFJ Easy Pro to polish DVDs, game discs and CDs. The fine, even abrasive lifts light scratches and haze without the residue and gumming you get from the coarse compound that ships with those machines. Worth knowing if you resell or collect discs.
