Half price is unusual for this doorbell; it normally sells at list. It's the wired model, drawing power from your existing doorbell wiring, so there's no battery to swap or remember to charge — which is why a lot of people end up choosing wired over battery in the first place.

Video is 2K with a wide-angle lens and up to 6x enhanced zoom, enough to make out a face at the door or the label on a package. When someone's there you get live view and two-way talk on your phone, so you don't have to open the door. Motion triggers a phone notification.

Two things to know up front. First, recorded video history and AI event alerts require a Ring Protect subscription, sold separately — without it you get live view and notifications only. Second, because it's wired, the mounting spot needs existing doorbell wiring (typically a 16-24V transformer). If there's no wiring at the door, this isn't the model for you.

251 reviews at 4.0 stars — not a great score, and worth explaining. The positive ones are about stability after install: simple setup, wide enough angle, clear microphone. One buyer went back and ordered two more cameras after the first. The negative ones come from two situations: not enough wall space beside the door, which limits the view, and at least one owner who fought constant offline status, spent four hours with support and returned it. Installation is the real barrier for anyone unfamiliar with wiring — reviewers say the hardest step is working out which of the existing doorbell wires are front and which are back.

It works with Alexa — live view on an Echo Show, announcements on an Echo Dot. If you want a door camera with no battery maintenance, adequate image quality, and a $55 price tag, this is worth a look. If you have no doorbell wiring or don't want a subscription, think it through before ordering.
