Amazon.ca has the HyperX Origins 2 65 mechanical keyboard for $35.64 CAD (list $55.99, 36% off). Prime members ship free; otherwise orders over $35 CAD ship free.

It's a 65% layout with 68 keys — arrow keys and function row stay, the numpad goes. If your desk is 80 cm wide, that extra space on the right is the whole point: your mouse stops colliding with the keyboard mid-swipe.

The unusual part is the shell. HyperX ships a frosted coloured housing that drops in as one piece, so changing the look doesn't mean buying another board, and the official design files are published if you own a 3D printer and want to make your own. The sockets are 5-pin hot-swap — pull a switch, push another in, no soldering.

Typing feel comes from an O-ring mount and a polycarbonate plate that soak up resonance, plus a removable silicone weight underneath, so keystrokes land deeper and quieter than a typical floating-key design. The 8k polling rate is aimed at gamers — it reports to your PC up to 8,000 times per second. Switches are factory-lubed HyperX Linear Reds with 1.8 mm actuation and an 80 million keystroke rating. Flip-down feet give two angles, and the USB-C braided cable detaches.

Two things worth knowing up front: the stabilizers aren't lubed, so the spacebar has a faint wire ping until you add a little grease, and NGENUITY key remaps and lighting profiles aren't saved to onboard memory — move to another PC and you'll need the software installed to get them back. Solid hardware, software is the weak link.
