Seagate Portable 2TB External HDD — Plug and Play for PC, Mac and PS4! $179.99 CAD (14% Off)

Amazon.ca has the Seagate Portable 2TB external drive (STGX2000400) for $179.99 CAD (list price $209.99, 14% off). Prime members ship free; non-Prime orders over $35 ship free.

It's a 2.5-inch portable spinning drive: USB 3.0, 190 g, 11.7 x 8 x 1.5 cm — smaller than a pack of tissues — with an 18-inch cable in the box that fits a laptop side pocket.

Plug it in and the computer sees it. No drivers, no management software, drag and drop on both Windows and Mac. It works as a Time Machine target on Mac or a plain file backup on Windows without extra setup.

Rated at 120 MB/s read, which is fine for moving tens of gigabytes of photos and video; for loading big games an SSD is still far quicker, so treat this as storage rather than a fast drive. A PS4 will take it directly for game storage, and Xbox works too.

It includes a one-year Rescue data recovery service, which matters more than the warranty here — the warranty replaces a dead drive, Rescue tries to get the files back. One-year limited warranty on the hardware.

4.6 stars across more than 266,000 ratings and 5,000+ bought in the past month; this is one of the safest picks in the category. Nobody wants to research external drives twice, so following the volume is reasonable.

On price, honestly: spinning disks have climbed over the past two years, so $179.99 for 2TB isn't a steal — it's $30 under list. If you need a drive you can fill and carry now, this works; if you can wait, Black Friday won't be dramatically better.

One caution: portable drives are for cold storage and backups, not for running 24/7. If you need something always-on, that's NAS drive territory.
