Amazon.ca has the Apple Watch Ultra 3 GPS + Cellular, 49mm Black Titanium case with the Black Alpine Loop in Medium, for $949.99 CAD — down from $1,099, a saving of $149. Prime members ship free; otherwise free shipping on orders over $35.
Apple watches rarely get cut directly. Official channels sit at list price and third parties usually shave off a few dozen dollars at most, so $149 off a current-generation Ultra is not the usual thing.
The gap between Ultra and the regular Series is durability and battery. Titanium case, sapphire crystal, 100 m water resistance — swim, dive, wakeboard, leave it on. The display is brighter and readable at wider angles than the standard model, and it doubles as a flashlight when you actually need one. Battery is rated 42 hours in normal use and 72 in Low Power Mode; with full GPS and heart-rate tracking during a workout it still runs 20 hours in Low Power Mode, which covers a marathon or a long day on trail without a charge.

Training features are thorough: dual-frequency GPS holds position better between buildings and under trees, plus Pacer, heart rate zones, custom workouts, running power and training load. The Action Button on the side is configurable — one press starts a workout or turns on the flashlight, gloves on. The cellular model makes calls and streams music without the iPhone, so you can leave the phone at home on a run.
The safety side is where Ultra earns its price: fall and severe car crash detection, and satellite messaging to emergency services when there is no cell or Wi-Fi coverage. If you hike or camp outside coverage in Canada, that is a real feature, not a spec sheet line.
Health tracking is the standard set — irregular rhythm notifications, sleep apnea detection, high/low heart rate alerts, the Vitals app for sleep score and daily status, and blood oxygen readings.
Two honest caveats. The step up from Ultra 2 is modest; if you already own one, there is no reason to move. And some reviewers mention wrist detection repeatedly asking for the passcode, the same annoyance reported on the Series 8. The rating is 4.4 from 40 reviews — a small sample, so weigh it accordingly.
If you have been waiting for the Ultra to come down, or you are moving up from a Series watch, this is a reasonable entry point for the current model.
