The pitch here is simple: the hardware is fully specced, and you decide which OS to run on it. A Core i3-N305 with 8 cores and 8 threads boosting to 3.8GHz, 32GB of DDR5-4800 (socketed, but officially non-upgradable), dual 2.5GbE ports that link-aggregate to 5Gb, and two M.2 NVMe slots for SSD caching.

That's a high tier for a 4-bay. TerraMaster claims a 150% performance jump over the previous generation, with app load times twice as fast, file and photo retrieval up 45%, database response up 55%. The measured figure is 283 MB/s linear transfer with four 18TB drives in RAID 0 — at which point the drives, not the box, are the bottleneck. Plex transcoding, a handful of Docker containers and a couple of VMs all fit comfortably in 8 cores and 32GB.

The part worth being honest about is the software. The stock TOS gets lukewarm reviews; plenty of owners install Unraid or OMV on day one and are happier for it. Community reports say Unraid runs with no hardware incompatibilities, and a UPS connected over USB is plug-and-play for monitoring and auto-shutdown.
