LEGO Lucky Cat 40813 — A 280-Piece Waving Paw Desk Charm! $25 CAD (37% Off)

Amazon.ca currently has the LEGO Lucky Cat (40813) for $25 CAD (list $39.99, 37% off). Prime members get free shipping; otherwise free on orders over $35.

280 pieces, about 11 cm tall once built. The party trick is the paw — there's a pendulum inside, so it actually waves, the same beckoning motion as the ceramic cats in shop windows. Smiling eyes, whiskers, blushing cheeks, paw pads and tail are all built from bricks, and the belly panel goes on two ways: a gold coin, or a written wish for good fortune.

Kids 9 and up can build it on their own, and it works fine as a desk piece for adults. Good for Lunar New Year, a shop opening or a housewarming — and unlike cheap ceramic figurines, it won't chip the first time it gets knocked over.

4.9 stars across 650+ reviews, unusually high for a small LEGO set. It rarely goes on sale at all, so $25 is about as low as this one gets.
