Once October hits, it gets dark early enough in the GTA that sitting on the balcony needs some light. A 35ft strand is long enough to wrap a railing, hang off a pergola or run along a fence, and the 17 bulbs are 2200K — warmer and softer than the usual 2700K, so it doesn't glare in your eyes while you're sitting next to it.

The panel has a ground stake and a clip, and 8 hours of sun gives you 8-10 hours of light. The part that actually matters here: when it's overcast or raining for days, you can top it up with the Type-C port in about 6 hours instead of having a dead strand on the fence. A dusk-to-dawn sensor turns it on and off by itself. The remote handles brightness, modes and 2/4/6/8-hour timers, and it remembers your last setting so you're not re-adjusting every night.

Bulbs are shatterproof plastic rather than glass, IP65 rated for rain and snow, and everything installs without wiring or an outlet — hooks, cable ties and screws are all in the box.

74 reviews at 4.3 stars, mostly praising the warm glow and easy setup. If you want backyard ambiance without running power out there, low twenties is a good price for this length.
