Samsung ViewFinity S7 27" 4K IPS Monitor — Sharp Enough for Photo Work and Spreadsheets, $228 CAD (35% Off)

Amazon.ca has the Samsung ViewFinity S7 (S71H, model LS27H710EANXZA) 27-inch 4K monitor at $228 CAD (list $349.99 — 35% off). Prime members ship free; otherwise orders over $35 CAD ship free.

3840 x 2160 across 27 inches works out to roughly 163 PPI, and that density pays off in concrete ways: two documents side by side without alt-tabbing, 100% zoom in Lightroom that actually shows you sharpness, and an Excel window holding twice the columns of 1080p. Coming from 1080p or 1440p, the jump is more noticeable than a GPU upgrade.

The IPS panel holds its 178° viewing angles, so colours don't wash out when you look at it from the side. HDR10 covers a billion colours with deeper blacks and brighter highlights — but this is entry-level HDR, not local dimming, so keep expectations calibrated. It still looks better than SDR for movies and photo work.

60Hz refresh, 5ms response. That tells you what it is: office work, photo editing, video. It is not a gaming monitor — if you play shooters or want high refresh, look elsewhere.

Eye comfort features are TÜV certified: Eye Saver mode cuts blue light and Less Screen Flickering reduces flicker. Noticeable after a four-hour writing session.

Ports are one HDMI and one DisplayPort. Canada version, one-year warranty. The chassis is 61.4 cm wide and 36.3 cm tall with very thin bezels and light enough for a single-arm mount.

43 reviews at 4.3 stars, ranked #80 in Computer Monitors. Praise goes to clean colour, good contrast, slim bezels and low weight. Two negatives worth flagging: one unit started turning off and going fuzzy, and one arrived faulty — so run it hard for a couple of days before you commit. One buyer also mentioned paying $170 on a previous sale, so $228 isn't the all-time low. If you're not in a hurry you can wait, though that price doesn't come around often.
