What it does is very specific: connect a USB-C Mac or iPad to an HDMI TV, monitor or projector while also plugging in a regular USB-A device — a flash drive, a camera, an old wireless mouse dongle — and still leaving a USB-C port free for your charger. All three work at once, no swapping cables. Video and audio both travel over HDMI; the HDMI cable itself is sold separately.
