The usual trap with a printer under a hundred dollars is that it only prints — scanning means a separate device, copying means scan-then-print, and fax is out of the question. The 6555e puts all four in one box: print, scan, copy and fax, covering what a home or small office actually needs day to day.

The print specs are sensible for household use: 10 ppm in black and 7 ppm in colour, with 1200 x 1200 dpi for black and 4800 x 1200 dpi for colour, so text stays sharp and photos come out close to lab quality. Automatic duplex printing halves the paper on long documents and saves you from flipping pages by hand. The input tray holds 100 sheets and the output tray 25, so reloading isn't a daily chore.

Scanning is flatbed at 1200 dpi hardware resolution and 24-bit colour depth, up to 8.5 x 11.7 inches, and there's a 35-sheet automatic document feeder on top for multi-page contracts, tax forms and homework without laying each page on the glass.
