Best Buy currently has the Rexing M2 smart dual-channel mirror dash cam for $129.99 CAD (list $259.99, 50% off). Orders over $35 ship free.

It clips over your existing rear-view mirror and turns it into a 12" IPS touchscreen. The front camera records up to 2K (2560 x 1440) while the rear camera records 1080p, both at once, each with a 170-degree viewing angle. Backing up or changing lanes, the screen shows a live feed from the rear of the car that covers more than the factory mirror does — pillars, pedestrians and low obstacles show up before they are in the mirror.

Less common at this price is the driver assistance: blind spot detection flags a vehicle sitting in the adjacent lane, and lane change assist signals when a move looks clear. The built-in GPS logger stamps time, date, location and speed onto the footage, which tends to matter more than anyone expects after an incident. Night vision, a G-sensor and loop recording are all standard — recording splits into 1, 2 or 3 minute files and overwrites the oldest unlocked clip once the card fills, while the G-sensor locks the segment around an impact so it cannot be overwritten.

Parking surveillance needs the hardwiring kit, sold separately; once wired, the camera wakes on vibration with the car off and records a 20-second clip. Footage goes to an SD card up to 256GB in MOV format, stills in JPEG, powered from 12V. The unit weighs 388 g and is rated for -20 to 176°F. There is no Wi-Fi here, so pulling footage means Mini USB or the card. Sold by RexingUSA with an 18-month warranty, and 936 reviews averaging 4.1 stars.
