Worth It: Dyson V15 Detect Plus Cordless Vacuum — The Green Laser Shows Dust You Can't See, 60-Minute Runtime, $999.99 CAD

Amazon.ca currently has the Dyson V15 Detect Plus cordless vacuum at $999.99 CAD, which is its regular list price — no extra discount on this one. Prime members ship free; otherwise free shipping starts at $35.

The two cleaner heads split the work cleanly. The Fluffy Optic head has the green laser that lights up dust you can't otherwise see — one reviewer ran a central vacuum over a rug first, then pulled a full bin of dirt out of it with this. The Digital Motorbar handles hard floors and carpet and de-tangles hair off the brush bar as it goes, which is the part pet owners end up relying on.

Suction adapts to dust level and floor type, and Dyson rates it at 200% of a V8. It weighs 2.74 kg with a 0.77 L bin, three power modes and up to 60 minutes of runtime, and the screen shows power mode, remaining time and the particles it just picked up. Whole-machine filtration is rated to trap 99.99% of fine dust down to 0.3 microns, and the HEPA filter is washable. Drop the wand and it becomes a handheld for the car, stairs and upholstery.

In the box: Digital Motorbar head, Fluffy Optic head, crevice tool, soft dusting brush, hair screw tool, wand clip and charging dock.

Two honest notes: it pulls so much out of rugs that a 2 x 4 ft door mat can fill the bin, so expect to empty it often, and one 4-star reviewer thinks $1,100 isn't worth it and $800 would be fair. 4.4 stars from 2,026 reviews, ranked 33rd in stick vacuums.
