This is a DAS, not a NAS: one USB-C cable to your computer and the six bays show up as six separate drives. It runs USB 3.2 Gen2 at 10Gbps — with six 8TB SATA drives installed, reads and writes reach roughly 1,030MB/s, and a single SSD reads at 510MB/s. Fine for 4K editing, or for finally consolidating a drawer full of loose portable drives.

Capacity tops out at 22TB per drive, 132TB total. It takes 3.5" and 2.5" SATA drives plus 2.5" SSDs, and the bays are hot-swappable, so you can swap a disk without powering down. Driver-free on Mac, Windows and Linux, and it works over Thunderbolt 3/4 as well. Metal body, 4.1 kg, two-year warranty.

One thing to be clear about before buying: it does not build arrays on its own. Out of the box it's six individual disks; RAID has to come from a NAS or a host running TOS. If what you want is "plug in and access over the network with automatic redundancy," buy a NAS instead. The point of this box is cheap, fast, quiet capacity expansion.

It sits at 4.4 stars over 121 reviews, and the recurring notes are that setup is easier than expected and that it's not cheap but does work well. If you already have spare drives, or your PC's bays have been full for a year, $339.99 is a recent low.
