Sonos Era 100 SL Microphone-Free Speaker — The Most Sensible Upgrade for an Arc or Beam

Amazon.ca has the Sonos Era 100 SL in black for $249 CAD. Prime members ship free; otherwise orders over $35 CAD ship free.

The Era 100 SL is the Era 100 with the microphones removed — no voice assistant, same price, and none of the "there's always a speaker listening" hesitation. Two angled tweeters plus a midwoofer, 240W, response down to 45Hz: plenty of bass for a desk or a bookshelf.

Connectivity is more flexible than you'd expect — Wi-Fi streaming, Bluetooth, and a line-in for a turntable. Setup is plug in, open the app, a few minutes, and Trueplay tunes it to the room's acoustics.

The case for buying it isn't really solo listening; it's as rear surrounds for an Arc or Beam. Owners of the Arc Ultra report that a pair of Era 100 SLs moves ambient sound and background effects from "all up front" to all around you — a far cheaper upgrade than a higher-end speaker, with a much bigger payoff. Putting a couple in different rooms for multi-room audio works too.

One limitation to be clear about: Era 100 SL only pairs in stereo with another Era 100 SL — it won't pair with an older One SL. If you were hoping to match one you already own, that's a dead end.

$249 is list price, and Sonos pricing is famously firm, but there's a clippable coupon on the Amazon listing right now — worth grabbing before checkout.
