Samsung 9100 PRO 2TB PCIe 5.0 SSD — 14,700MB/s Reads for AI Workloads and 8K Editing! $569.99 CAD (38% Off)

Amazon.ca currently has the Samsung 9100 PRO 2TB PCIe 5.0 x4 NVMe 2.0 M.2 internal SSD (MZ-VAP2T0B/AM) for $569.99 CAD (list $924.99, 38% off). Free shipping for Prime members; non-Prime orders ship free over $35.

Sequential reads hit 14,700MB/s and writes 13,400MB/s, with random performance up to 2.2M IOPS read and 2.6M IOPS write. In practice: multi-gigabyte model weights and asset libraries stop being a progress bar you watch, 8K timelines scrub without stutter, and games using Microsoft DirectStorage pull assets straight from the drive into VRAM with loading screens you barely register. Samsung puts sequential speed at roughly twice the 990 PRO.

One thing to verify before buying: you need a dedicated PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot and a current-gen CPU to see those numbers. It works in a PCIe 4.0 or 3.0 slot but gets capped at that generation's ceiling — which is why some people install it and feel no difference. This generation uses a new power and thermal design with up to 49% better efficiency per Samsung, and Gen5 drives do run warm, so don't stack heatsinks on top of your board's cover.

Samsung Magician handles migration from your old drive and enables optimisation. One reviewer clocked a full drive migration at around ten minutes and noticed faster boot and app launches immediately.

1,987 reviews at 4.6 stars, 500+ bought in the past month. At $569.99 for 2TB this sits in the low end of the range for the line. If you're running local AI, cutting 8K, or just want the machine to feel a tier faster, this is the money spent directly on the bottleneck.
