Sony WH-1000XM6 — QN3 Processor, 12 Mics, 30-Hour Battery! $478 CAD (20% Off)

Amazon.ca has the Sony WH-1000XM6 over-ear noise cancelling headphones in midnight blue for $478 CAD (list $599.99, 20% off). Prime members ship free; otherwise free over $35.

Sony's flagship for the year. The headline change is the QN3 noise cancelling processor, which Sony says runs 7x faster than the QN1 in the XM5 and coordinates 12 microphones in real time. The difference you actually hear is in the low end: subway rumble and jet engine drone get flattened more completely, and voices no longer pick up that hollow electronic edge.

Sound was tuned with mastering engineers around a carbon fibre dome driver, and vocals sit cleanly apart from instruments. LDAC is supported, and the 3.5 mm cable still keeps noise cancelling active for in-flight entertainment or a laptop.

Calls run through six mics with AI beamforming and wind reduction. Battery is 30 hours with ANC on, over USB-C, and three minutes of charging buys three hours of playback. At 254 g it's lighter than the XM5, with an asymmetrical headband for more even pressure, and the fold-flat design plus magnetic hard case makes it easy to pack.

The complaints are consistent in reviews: a lot of plastic for a $500 product, hinges that squeak near freezing, and ear cup edges that press on glasses. It's at 4.0 stars over 3,853 reviews — noise cancelling and battery are rarely criticised, while build details and the occasional Bluetooth hiccup take the deductions.

For indoor and commuting use it's still top-tier at this price. If you wear a hat and glasses outdoors year-round, try ten minutes in a store first.
