The Toronto Raptors and star forward Kawhi Leonard have officially completed a two-year contract extension worth $115 million. According to the NBA.com transaction log, the deal took effect on Tuesday night, keeping Leonard in Toronto.

The extension begins in 2027/28, after Leonard earns $50.3 million in 2026/27, and includes a player option for the 2028/29 season, his agent told ESPN. Because of the Over-38 rule, the 35-year-old could not sign for longer than two years; his actual deal came in about $9 million below the two-year maximum (roughly $124 million), and he also waived a trade kicker worth approximately $7.5 million.

Leonard returns to Toronto seven years after leading the franchise to its first and only NBA championship. Last season with the Clippers, he averaged 27.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.9 steals in 65 games on .505/.387/.892 shooting, finished seventh in MVP voting and made the All-NBA second team.

2. Blue Jays All But Eliminated From Playoff Race

The Toronto Blue Jays' playoff hopes are all but over. A rainy day in Baltimore delayed their elimination by one more day, but Tuesday's results elsewhere virtually ended Toronto's chances -- the Cleveland Guardians (83-75) and Chicago White Sox (82-76) both won, moving closer to the postseason.

That means the Blue Jays (77-80) can only make the playoffs by winning all five of their remaining games while either the Guardians or White Sox lose all five of theirs. Toronto returns to the field for a doubleheader at Camden Yards on Wednesday, has a day off Thursday, then closes with three home games against the Cincinnati Reds.

3. Report: Giants QB Jaxson Dart's Injury Could Be Season-Ending

An MRI showed that New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart's knee injury is worse than expected, per NFL Network. He is now expected to be out an extended period -- and possibly for the rest of the season.

It is a heavy blow for a Giants team that showed great promise in Week 1. Veteran Jameis Winston moves into the starting job, but he struggled in relief of Dart on Monday night, completing 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards and an interception. The Giants have no other quarterbacks on their 53-man roster, so they will likely scour free agency or the trade market for help at the position.

4. Simone Biles and Husband Jonathan Owens Had Their Porsche Stolen in Chicago

Gymnastics star Simone Biles said in a video posted Tuesday on social media that "three men in masks came to our house and stole my Porsche" before she and her husband moved out of Chicago.

Her husband, NFL linebacker Jonathan Owens, left the Chicago Bears in free agency for the Indianapolis Colts in March. It is unclear when the theft occurred. Owens, 31, has played for the Cardinals, Texans, Packers, Bears and Colts, appearing in 84 regular-season games with 35 starts.

5. Arizona State: Coaches Didn't Submit Training Plan Before Mayich's Collapse

An Arizona State University (ASU) review found that hockey coaches did not submit a plan for review by trainers before an outdoor workout last month that left NHL prospect Matthew Mayich collapsed and still in hospital in critical condition.

James Rund, the university official leading the review, wrote that the 21-year-old, who was born in Hamilton, collapsed just before 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 20. The session took place at Sun Angel Stadium on ASU's Tempe campus in about 30 C heat, with athletes doing calisthenics, bodyweight exercises such as pushups and planks, and running.

The family's lawyer, Rob Carey, said Tuesday that Mayich "is in stable but critical condition still. The family is still praying for a miracle." He criticized the university for not suspending or firing anyone, and said the family will ask the county attorney to investigate. Mayich was drafted by the NHL's St. Louis Blues in 2023.

7. Boone: Yankees Planning for Aaron Judge to Miss Wild-Card Series

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that slugger Aaron Judge is unlikely to play in the wild-card series after receiving an injection in his sore right calf.

Boone said Judge had a platelet poor plasma injection during the team's off-day on Monday. Judge was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a strained soleus muscle, which Boone described as "moderate." He is eligible to be activated for Sunday's regular-season finale against Baltimore but will not do much activity in the coming days. The Yankees will most likely face the Boston Red Sox in the first round. Judge is hitting .241 with 18 homers and 41 RBIs in just 66 games this year.

8. Gable Steveson Responds to Sexual Assault Allegations

After a 12-second knockout loss at UFC 331, Olympic wrestling gold medalist Gable Steveson released his first statement Tuesday, responding mainly to opponent Sean Sharaf repeatedly calling him a "rapist" leading up to the fight.

In the statement, Steveson stressed that he "did not do anything alleged," was never charged with a crime and that the matter was ultimately dropped by the district attorney due to inadequate evidence. He was arrested on sexual misconduct charges in 2019 while at the University of Minnesota, but the case was dropped and he faced no criminal penalty. He said the loss will motivate him to come back, just as he did in his wrestling career.

The kick took place at Jungfraujoch, known as the "Top of Europe," on snow-covered ground with swirling winds, with a Guinness adjudicator on hand to certify the achievement. Vinatieri said the altitude is felt "with every breath you take." The event kicked off the Patriots' countdown to their Nov. 15 game in Munich. Green, 49, took over for fired manager Carlos Mendoza in June and guided the Mets to a 37-38 record as interim manager.
