Samsung 990 PRO 1TB NVMe SSD — 7,450 MB/s and PS5-Ready! $299.99 CAD (32% Off)

Amazon.ca has the Samsung 990 PRO 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD (Canada version, MZ-V9P1T0B/AM) at $299.99 CAD — down from $439.99, a 32% saving. Prime members ship free; otherwise free shipping over $35 CAD.

The 990 PRO is Samsung's flagship PCIe 4.0 drive: 7,450/6,900 MB/s sequential, which effectively maxes out the Gen4 interface. Random read/write is 40%/55% faster than the 980 PRO, with up to 1400K/1550K IOPS. You won't feel those numbers day to day — you'll feel them when Windows boots, when a big game loads, and when a 4K timeline stops stuttering.

For console owners: it's PS5 compatible, 2280 form factor, and fits desktops and laptops that meet the PCI-SIG D8 standard. The built-in drive fills up after a dozen AAA titles; adding 1TB beats deleting games every other week. DirectStorage titles on PC benefit from the same random performance.

Thermals are where this drive has an edge — Samsung's own nickel-coated controller and a slim single-sided build that won't fight your laptop's bottom panel. Rated for 600TBW, and Samsung Magician lets you check drive health, push firmware, enable performance mode, and clone your old drive over.

One honest note: there are plenty of cheap 1TB Gen4 drives now, and if you're just adding storage to an old laptop, a cheaper one is fine. This one is worth it when you want near the top of Gen4 — as a boot drive, a PS5 expansion, or a scratch disk for video. 4.7 stars across 13,000+ ratings, #4 in Internal Solid State Drives.
