Samsung Odyssey G7 40" 5K2K Curved Monitor — 5120×2160 at 180Hz, Work and Play on One Panel! $848 CAD (35% Off)

Amazon.ca has the Samsung Odyssey G7 40-inch WUHD curved gaming monitor (LS40FG756ENXZA, Canada version) for $848 CAD (list $1,299.99, 35% off — $450 less). Prime members ship free; otherwise free shipping over $35.

5K2K (5120×2160) sits in a sweet spot right now: wide enough for three windows side by side, and at 40 inches the pixel density is near-retina, so text and code stay crisp. It replaces a dual-monitor setup without the seam down the middle.

1000R curvature at 40 inches is about right — the ends of the screen stay equidistant from your eyes, so glancing sideways doesn't mean refocusing. VA panel with DisplayHDR 600. Blacks are good for the money; this is not OLED.

Gaming: 180Hz, 1ms GtG, FreeSync Premium Pro, and G-SYNC compatible. Owners running an RTX 5070 Ti report well over 100 fps at native 5120×2160 in demanding titles without DLSS or FSR. One review of this current-gen VA panel and its matte coating noted no visible smearing in practice.

Two things to plan for. Out of the box the colour leans green and flat, and it needs calibration — black equalizer 0, brightness 37, contrast 50, warm 1, colour space Native is a starting point someone verified — but once dialled in it's genuinely impressive. And to get HDR, you have to switch it on in Windows 11 as well as on the monitor.

Ports are DisplayPort, HDMI and a USB hub, with picture-by-picture for a work laptop plus a console. The stand tilts and adjusts for height.

Only 21 ratings at 4.2 stars, so the sample is small. The one-star review is about Samsung's QC and support rather than the panel itself — worth knowing, and worth testing yours thoroughly inside the return window.

$848 is the price this model actually sells at on promotion (one reviewer bought at $850), so buy at this level rather than the $1,299 list.
